All truckers are required to have insurance in order to be on the road. When someone operates under their own authority they are required to have primary liability and cargo insurance. If they are operating under a leased authority they are required to have non-trucking liability insurance including bobtail and deadhead insurance. Optional coverage options include comprehensive, collision, and general liability coverage. In addition, some authorities may require a minimum amount of coverage for your truck.
